What are raw foods?

When asked “what is a raw diet? Does that mean you eat raw meat?” Immediately a visual of ground beef comes to mind while my nose crinkles up. I giggle and say, “not exactly.” A raw food diet consists of unprocessed food that has not been heated above 115°F. I do not eat a diet consisting exclusively of raw foods, however I do believe in the many health benefits that come with a large portion of the diet being purely raw food. Many studies show cooking vegetables kills important nutrients and enzymes the body needs.

Fruits and vegetables are “alive” and help maintain the bodies natural alkalinity. When cooked, these same foods begin to loose their nutritional value, therefore becoming acidic & potentially harmful to the body. Simply implementing more fresh, pure, raw foods into ones diet can bring about improved overall health.
